Wayne L. Gongwer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wayne L. Gongwer, 88, Goshen, died 2 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1932 in Elkhart County, to Willis L. & Treva F. (Hunsberger) Gongwer. On April 3, 1955, he married Doris “Joan” (Martin) Gongwer. Surviving are his wife, Doris “Joan” Gongwer, Goshen, children, Stephen (Judith) Gongwer, Elkhart, Shirley M. Gongwer, Mishawaka, Rhonda (Kim) Clouse, Elkhart, David (Jennifer) Gongwer, Elkhart, 10 grandchildren, Daniel Gongwer, Jacob Gongwer, Marjory Gongwer, Stepheni Gongwer, Kati (Travis) Marcum, Rory (Kammy) Clouse, Kit (Katherine) Clouse, Robert (Mary) Gongwer, Albert (Haley) Gongwer & Michael Gongwer, 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way and a brother, Richard (Judy) Gongwer, Marion. Preceding him in death are his parents, grandson, Rafe Clouse and siblings, Lois Miller & Carl Gongwer. Wayne was a lifelong farmer and a master carpenter who enjoyed using his talent to make furniture and various other items for family, friends and his church. He served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant and Carpenter. Wayne was a member of Bethel Missionary Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Wakarusa High School. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Bethel Missionary Church, 63473 CR 7, Goshen.
