Hernán Cortes Colon 79, Goshen, died 8:55 am Monday, December 6, 2021, at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen. He was born September 30, 1942, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Aurelio Cortes and Rosalina Colon. On August 18, 1973, he married Iris Olivera Cortes. Surviving are his wife, Iris Olivera Cortes, Goshen, children, Ledia Cortes, Goshen, Mayra Cortes, Puerto Rico, Walter (Lisa) Cortes, Middlebury, Rosalina (Andrew) Bishop, Kansas, Isaac Cortes, Goshen. Twenty-five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Sisters, Coly Cortes and Hilda Cortes, Puerto Rico. Preceding him in death are parents, daughter, Iris F. Cortes-Rosario, son, Hernán Cortes Claudio, one brother and three sisters. Hernán was the owner/operator of Indiana Latina in Goshen. He later retired from AutoZone. Hernán enjoyed arts, painting, and fishing. He especially loved spending time with family, playing with his grandchildren, and friends. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Thursday December 9, 2021 at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. One hour prior to the 11 am funeral service on Friday December 10, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 417 S. Main St., Goshen. Father Royce Gregerson will officiate.
