Specialized support for children with grief issues in Elkhart Co. and surrounding Michiana.

Grief Support Group, 6:30 p.m. at Ryan's Place, a Center for Grieving Children, Teens, and their parents - groups segmented by age - including one for post-high school age. Two groups meet in Goshen: every other Monday or Thursday evenings at the Goshen City Church of the Brethren, and one meets in Elkhart: every other Monday at the First Congregation Church. An anticipatory grief group to support those whose loved ones are in the process of dying is also available, as needed.

SUICIDE SURVIVOR'S Support Group 

Elkhart County's response, offering specialized support to adults who had a family member or close friend commit suicide. This group is also led by persons connected to Ryan's Place and meets every other Monday of each month at 7 PM at Ryan's Place. (Contact the same numbers listed above for Ryan's Place.)

Goshen Care at Home / Hospice Bereavement Support Group

Children's & Teen grief support group

Center for Hospice Care- Children's Grief Support Group will be held on Mondays from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning on March 20, 2017 and ending on April 24, 2017. The groups run periodically throughout the year. This group is for children (ages 6-12) that have experienced the death of a loved one. The Teen Grief Support Group is ongoing and meets Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. throughout the school year. This group is for teens who have experienced a death. Both groups are held at the office in Mishawaka at 501 Comfort Place.

CAMP EVERGREEN TEEN & YOUTH CAMP

Center for Hospice Care- Camp Evergreen Teen Camp is scheduled for the first weekend in June from June 2-4, 2017. Camp Evergreen Youth Camp, for ages 6-12, will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2017. The grief camp is designed for young people who have experienced the death of someone significant in their lives. Teen Camp will take place at Camp Eberhart in Three Rivers, MI and Youth Camp will be located at Camp Raybird in South Bend, IN. Camp Evergreen will provide bus transportation to and from the camp for our teen campers. "THE EVERGREEN EXPERIENCE"

Workshops for school age children ages 6 to 12, and their parents, who are grieving the loss of a loved one as a result of death - these group experiences are offered by the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. Each runs 2 ½ hours every other month on Saturday mornings at the Life Transition Center at 215 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, 46545. Education and emotional support are offered and there is no charge to attend.

After Suicide Support Group

United Health Services - Provides a place to connect and share with others who are coping with the sudden loss of a loved one who died by suicide. The group usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month but check with the facilitator.

Local Outreach to Survivors of a Suicide (LOSS)

United Health Services - A team is available to meet with survivors in the days and weeks following the death of a loved one to suicide. We provide support and information on local resources.  Home visits can be arranged.
